“Founded July 2024, the mission of The New Student Senate is to champion the rights and needs of California community college students by promoting policies that ensure equity, accessibility, and success.
We are committed to empowering student leaders, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, and actively addressing and eliminating toxic behaviors, bullying, manipulation, and collusion within student governance.
We demand that the SSCCC not monopolize the exclusive voice of student representation in California. We are focused on amplifying the voices of historically underrepresented students—rural, DSPS, online, nontraditional, artistic, bullied students, and those whose views differ from the SSCCC.
Every student need deserves to be heard and helped, and we are committed to ensuring they have a platform. We hold each other accountable and uphold the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Accountability (DEIAA) to create a positive and impactful student leadership experience.”
We are empowered by principles outlined in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, the California Education Code, and relevant U.S. Department of Education regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
